Humanitarian

Family of a U or T survivor

If you have a pending or approved U or T petition, you can ask for status for certain family members: Form I-918 Supplement A for U, Form I-914 Supplement A for T. Who qualifies depends on your age, and family abroad can be included.

Requirements

What you have to show

U visa family

  • If you are under 21: your spouse, children, parents, and unmarried siblings under 18.
  • If you are 21 or older: your spouse and children.

T visa family

  • If you are under 21: your spouse, unmarried children under 21, parents, and unmarried siblings under 18. If you are 21 or older: your spouse and unmarried children under 21.
  • At any age: your parents, unmarried siblings under 18, and the children of a family member with derivative T status, if they face a present danger of retaliation.

When to file

  • U: with your petition or later. Your own petition must be approved before family can receive U status.
  • T: with your application, while it is pending, or while you are in T status.

The steps

How the case runs

  1. Gather proof of the relationship

Birth and marriage certificates, and for T family in danger, a description of the danger and any evidence of it.

  2. File a Supplement A for each family member

With your own petition, or later within the timing above.

  3. Family in the U.S. or abroad

Family in the U.S. can ask for a work permit once the petition is approved. Family abroad complete consular processing at a U.S. embassy or consulate.

How it works

How your petition gets built

  1. You answer simple questions

In English, Spanish, or Portuguese. The software puts your answers on the official USCIS forms.

  2. Your packet comes together

Your evidence is sorted into a numbered exhibit index, and your packet is checked for completeness.

  3. You file it

Download the assembled packet and file it yourself — or have an independent licensed attorney review and file it for you.

Pricing

What it costs

Your exact technology fee depends on your petition type and is shown during the free eligibility check, before you pay anything. USCIS filing fees are set by the government and paid by you directly to USCIS when you file, not at checkout.

Questions

Common questions

Is there help with the cost of a humanitarian case?

Need help affording your case? Contact our support team to ask about humanitarian discounts. Each request is reviewed by our team. USCIS filing fees go to the government, never to us, and your check shows exactly what applies to your case.

Who qualifies for a humanitarian petition?

These paths cover VAWA, T and U visa, asylee green card, and special immigrant juvenile cases. Answer a few simple questions in the free check and it tells you whether your situation fits one of them.

Is it safe to put my information here?

Your data is encrypted in transit and at rest. We never sell it or send it to USCIS, and it goes only to the service providers that make the product work. You decide when and how to file, and you can delete your account and data at any time.
