When you can get a refund, and how to ask for one.
Effective date: set at publication · This version: September 2026
Summary
Cancel within 48 hours of your payment, or of your portal opening if that is later. What you paid comes back right away.
Once you download your petition, or we refer you to an attorney, no refund is given.
If you decide not to finish your petition, you owe nothing further.
USCIS fees go to the government, never to us.
Your exact technology fee is shown in the free eligibility check, before you pay anything. A first payment opens your portal and covers the cost of starting your file. You pay the rest in monthly payments, or all at once when your petition is finished.
You are entitled to a full refund, for any reason and with no cancel fee, within 48 hours of your payment, or of your portal opening if that is later, provided you have not yet downloaded your petition or been referred to an attorney. This right ends when the 48 hours pass, when you download your petition, or when we refer you to an attorney, whichever happens first. Buyers in Brazil have 7 days (section 07).
After 48 hours, the first payment is not refundable. Once you download your finished petition, or once we refer you to an independent attorney, no refund is given for any amount you have paid, even within the 48 hours, because the service has been delivered to you. If you stop before your petition is finished, you owe nothing further.
Use the Need help? button in your account, or the contact page. Every request is reviewed individually. Refunds go back to the payment method you used, right away; your bank may take a few business days to show the credit. Payments made through a payment-plan provider are refunded through that provider.
USCIS filing fees, which you pay directly to the government, and the fees of an independent attorney you choose, are not ours to refund. Qualifying humanitarian cases are free, so there is nothing to refund. No refund is given for things outside our control: USCIS decisions, requests for evidence, or processing times; mail or courier problems; changes in law, forms, or government fees; or inaccurate information you provided.
Our responsibility for any claim about a payment is limited to what you paid us for the service, as set out in the consumer terms. If you believe a charge is wrong, contact us before disputing it with your bank; we can usually fix it faster.
Under Brazil’s Consumer Defense Code, Article 49, a buyer in Brazil can cancel within 7 days of the payment, or of the portal opening if that is later, for any reason. We return what they paid immediately, with monetary correction and no penalty. Other country notices are on the country pages.
Nothing in this policy limits a right that consumer law gives you where you live; if your local law gives you longer to cancel, you have that longer time. By paying, you confirm you have read this policy. If it changes, the new version appears here with a new effective date and applies only to purchases made after that date.
This policy is part of your agreement with welcomeUSA, together with the consumer terms and the privacy policy.
